Istanbul Historic Peninsula Spatial Strategy Plan

The Historic Peninsula Spatial Strategy Plan established a comprehensive, data-driven strategic framework to guide the sustainable development and long-term management of Istanbul's UNESCO World Heritage Site. The project was developed through thousands of spatial analyses, more than 3,000 stakeholder surveys, field studies, institutional consultations and multidisciplinary assessments, providing a robust evidence base for strategic decision-making.

Rather than serving as a conventional planning document, the strategy was designed as an implementation-oriented investment management framework, enabling municipal investments to be prioritised, coordinated, phased and monitored within a structured long-term programme. The study defined 4 strategic objectives, 14 goals and 10 core strategies, translating them into 100 implementation projects, including 61 strategic intervention areas (40 public facilities and 21 public squares), 13 strategic corridors and 13 urban regeneration and renewal projects.
