Balavca Stream and Surrounding Area as a Multi-Layered Natural and Cultural Life Corridor

Project Overview

Developed for a design competition organised by the Municipality of Milas, the project proposed an integrated urban design framework for the approximately 25-hectare area surrounding Balavca Stream, enhancing the ecological, cultural and public-space potential of the corridor while reconnecting the urban fabric of Milas with the creek environment.

The design combined ecological restoration, sustainable landscape strategies and climate-sensitive public spaces. Key interventions included creek rehabilitation, pedestrian and cycling networks, recreational areas, cultural destinations and public amenities.

Through an integrated approach combining ecology, culture, tourism and public life, the project transformed Balavca Stream into a continuous urban and ecological corridor. The proposal was awarded Second Prize.
