Project Overview
A comprehensive design guideline was prepared for signage, awnings, outdoor commercial elements and public-realm occupation across Istanbul's Historic Peninsula. Developed as part of a regulatory revision process led by the Municipality of Fatih, the project aimed to improve public-space quality, reduce visual clutter and preserve the architectural and cultural identity of the historic urban environment.
The study analysed different urban character zones, including commercial districts, tourism corridors, heritage areas and public spaces. Design standards were established for signage systems, awnings, storefronts, wayfinding elements and outdoor commercial uses, supported by implementation principles, typologies and visual examples.
