Project Overview
A district-wide framework study was prepared for Serdivan, a 13,000-hectare district of Sakarya, to establish the methodological foundation for a future urban design guide. Rather than producing a final design manual, the project defined how such a guide should be structured, which urban issues it should address and how its recommendations could respond to different local contexts.
The study combined spatial analysis, urban morphology, land-use patterns, development density, built form, landscape structure, mobility networks and public-space characteristics. Serdivan was divided into distinct urban character areas reflecting different settlement patterns and development dynamics.
Preliminary design principles and context-specific recommendations were developed for each character area, establishing the scope, methodology and implementation logic of the future urban design guide.
