Project Overview
The Historic Peninsula Transportation Strategy Plan established a comprehensive, data-driven mobility framework to improve accessibility, reduce traffic congestion and support sustainable transportation across Istanbul's UNESCO World Heritage Site. The project was developed through extensive transportation analyses, mobility assessments, literature review, international best-practice research, field observations and spatial data analysis.
The strategy defined 6 strategic themes, 9 planning objectives, 28 project categories and 238 individual projects. A structured prioritisation methodology evaluated projects according to feasibility, expected impact, cost, timeline, institutional responsibility and contribution to strategic objectives. Alternative implementation scenarios and a 25-year phased investment roadmap were prepared to guide municipal decision-making.
